What is an Anchor Link?
An Anchor Link is a type of hyperlink that, when clicked, immediately scrolls the user to a specific section on the same webpage, rather than taking them to a completely different URL. It is created by assigning a unique ID to a page section and linking to that ID (e.g., #pricing-section).
Why Anchor Links Matter in User Navigation?
Anchor links are essential for long-form content, improving usability by allowing users to skip straight to the information they care about.
- Improved User Flow: On a long SaaS landing page, an anchor link in the hero section can jump a user straight down to the pricing tables, reducing friction.
- Table of Contents: They are heavily used in long blog posts or Knowledge Base articles, allowing readers to navigate complex documents easily.
- Sharability: You can send a client a URL with the anchor attached (e.g., flowtrix.co/services#webflow), dropping them exactly where they need to be.
Example from Flowtrix Projects
In our Figma to Webflow conversions, Flowtrix heavily utilizes Anchor Links on single-page layouts and detailed case studies. We often pair them with smooth-scrolling Interaction Design, ensuring the jump feels polished rather than jarring, which enhances the overall premium feel of the site.
