Overlays

What is Overlays?

Overlays are used to draw the user's attention to a specific task, message, or content, effectively separating it from the main page. Common types include: modals, full screen navigation, and image light boxes.

Why Overlays Matter in Conversion and UX?

While they must be used carefully to avoid annoyance, overlays are highly effective tools for Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO).

  • Focus: They force the user's attention to a single action (CTA), minimizing distraction and improving Conversion Rate.
  • UX/Clarity: They can be used to display supplemental information (like detailed pricing) without overloading the main page with Visual Hierarchy conflicts.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: They are essential for displaying the main Navigation Menu cleanly on smaller screens.

Example from Flowtrix Projects

Flowtrix strategically designs and builds custom Overlays in Webflow, ensuring they are triggered based on a clear User Flow and Nudge psychology (e.g., exit intent). We use them for high-converting Lead Forms but ensure they have clear closing mechanisms to maintain a positive User Experience (UX) and adhere to Website Accessibility best practices.
